Overview
While managing 2 UI designers, I realized they had different paths ahead of them. One was interested in going deeper into design systems while the other wanted a more lateral expansion into a hybrid UI/UX role, potentially shifting all the way into a full generalist UX designer role. I worked with our head of UX and another UX manager to define and break down their roles to provide better clarity on what their responsibilities were, how to prioritize work and manage their time, and have a written baseline to reference for career growth. And to help reinforce my own role as well as its relationship to the others, I created similar documentation for myself and included it with the others for visibility.
